If you are involved in the assessment of musculoskeletal function, then this course is targeted at you. You will be equipped with the tools necessary to become a professional in Clinical Biomechanics, including basic and advanced skills in motion capture, force/pressure and muscle function analysis.
The course consists of 90ECTS divided into 3 study units of 10 ECTS each and a research project that includes a dissertation of 60 ECTS. This ensures that once the fundamental principles are understood and skill levels are enhanced, they can be applied to a substantial project that would further consolidate the various data acquiring skills acquired during the course.
the degree of Bachelor of Science (Honours) obtained with at least Second Class (Honours) from the Faculty of Health Sciences in an area of study which should be directly related to the area in which the research is to be carried out or
a Bachelor's degree obtained with at least a Second Class (Honours) in a discipline deemed by the Board as being closely related to the area of study in which the research is to be carried out or
a qualification deemed by Senate, on the recommendation of the Board, to be equivalent to the qualifications listed in (a) and (b).
During the first year of the Course, students may be required to undergo an occupational health assessment so as to ascertain that they are fit for work which may bring them in contact with the clinical environment. Students who do not fulfil this requirement may be barred from progressing with their studies. Failure to disclose information about a physical or mental health problem that could affect patient safety is considered to be a serious breach of the University Suitability to Practise Regulations.
You can submit your application online. The deadlines for submission of applications vary according to the intake and courses. We encourage all international applicants to submit their applications as soon as possible. This is especially important if you require a visa to travel and eventually stay in Malta.
The University of Malta has student accommodation on campus called Campus Hub. Campus Hub is just a 2-minute walk from the main campus. For more information, visit the .

Apply knowledge of biomechanics to pathologies of the musculoskeletal system.
Reliably use innovative biomechanical acquisition and measurement methods during both research and clinical practice
Critically evaluate the importance of innovative treatment modalities with regards to human movement in health and disease.
Communicate effectively between multiple health care professionals and engineers due to the nature of the structure of the course.
At the end of this course of study, you should be able to competently perform motion analysis acquisition, including kinematic and kinetic examinations utilizing the latest technology available for clinical biomechanics. Other practical competencies include the writing and interpretation of clinical biomechanics reports, including electromyographic data, foot pressure mapping and force measurement data, which are integrated within kinematic reports

The Masters programme provides expertise in a very specialized area in which there is a worldwide lack of available professionals, thus increasing employability chances, both locally and internationally. It is an emergent profession, for which this programme provides the relevant academic and professional credentials.
As a successful student, you would have the opportunity to proceed to a PhD in a related area of study both locally and abroad.
